— ABOCI Class Information —

All Breed Obedience Club is a non-profit group dedicated to the development of the canine/human bond. We foster the three levels of dog ownership that a dog can be a pet, a companion, and a partner. Our various activities at centrally located Allied Gardens Recreation Center in San Diego, in the vicinity of Interstate 8 and Waring Road, include classes, practice sessions, Show & Goes, Flyball, Obedience Trials, and more!

Our club includes experienced dog trainers offering classes to the public. Our Beginning Pet Dog Training Class and Intermediate Pet Dog Training / Canine Good Citizenship Class, when available, emphasize basic good pet obedience. Our competition classes, when available, cater to the serious competitor. We welcome ALL dogs — mixed breeds, as well as purebred — in all of our classes, matches and activities!

— Upcoming Classes—

Membership is not required to take our obedience training classes. However, pre-registration is encouraged for all classes except our Open Enrollment Puppy Classes. Please e-mail the instructor listed for each class for more information about that class.

BEGINNING PET DOG OBEDIENCE

Dogs ages 6 months and up

ABSOLUTELY NO AGGRESSIVE DOGS!!

Using positive methods of learning this class will teach you how to reward good behaviors and discourage less desirable ones. Whether you've already started your dog on the road to 'good manners' with puppy kindergarten, your older dog needs a refresher, or you've just added a new member to your family, there's something here for you. Learn the basics such as 'sit', 'down', 'stay', 'come' and 'leave it' as well as other behaviors such as 'go to your mat' and how to walk nicely on a leash. Discover quite a few ways to reward your dog, either with tasty treats, a game of fetch, or other real life rewards that can motivate him/her to respond in a more positive way toward you and other two- legged members of your household.

For more info and to reserve a spot, e-mail Louisa Goldeni at louisa4@cox.net (ABOCI in the subject line)

Rally Class

This class is being put on by Joan McAdam of Pawsitively Focused K9. founded in 2006 by a lifelong dog owner, trainer and competitor whose friends insisted that "training methods of the month" were failing their dogs. We use the Team Approach combining Obedience exercises with K9 sports. This fun, motivational method has proven to be effective with problem dogs of most breeds and has resulted in cherished pets, many of whom have gone on to earn Obedience, Agility and Rally titles.www.pawsitivelyfocusedk9s.com).

Prerequisites: No aggression towards people or other dogs ◙ Up-to-date Rabies inoculation or titer ◙ Handler & dog should be familiar with basic obedience commands, i.e. loose leash walking, sit, down, stand, stay.

This is a 5-week course that will combine Novice and Advanced Rally Training. This 5 week course lays a solid foundation to give you and your dog all the teamwork & handling skills needed to compete in a Rally Trial. Classes are kept very small in order to focus on the specific needs of each individual dog & handler team. You will be given a new course map each week, an official AKC Rally booklet containing sign & exercise descriptions, and instructions on how to enter a dog show.

Contact Joan for further information.
